Kandi is the daughter of a former All Star NBA player turned NBA Coach. Kandi’s family is about prestige and image. Unfortunately, too many bad deeds are done and so many lives are intwined. No one should have a father and mother like Kandi because someone always gets hurt (physically and emotionally).
This book kept you on your toes and it was something I couldn't put down. If i could uber around and read this i would. Let's have a sequel.
Kandi and Alexis are BFFs, or so it would seem. As the daughter of a former NBA player turned coach, Kandi’s dad has thrown her to the wolves, too many times to count, as her mom does damage control. Although not from as prominent a family as Kandi’s, Alexis is no stranger to this life of sex, lies & deceit. Her father, too, played pro ball. As Kandi & Lex’s friendship develops, certain things play out. As the saying goes, “What’s done in the dark will come to light!†And much comes to light in this novel!The editing is definitely off, like many African American novels. There were misspelled words, mixed up character names, and underdeveloped parts of this story. For example, Derrick has sickle cell disease, that no one new about, but there was never a time it was outed and dealt with, by the characters. (I’m trying not to give away too many details.) Overall, there is a potentially decent storyline here. It’s obvious the author set up this novel to carry on into a few future novels. I suggest a decent editor, but I’ll keep reading, for now, to see what happens.
This was different than what I expected. I can’t believe the Coach basically pimped out his daughter. I swear all men are dogs! Kandi was only doing what she was raised to do but Derrick changed the game. Just when I thought he couldn’t be worse, Jason showed that he was really worse than imagined!
So this book had promise. I was really getting into the drama, the web of lies and deception. But then it just seemed liked the author didn't know how to connect it all into a smooth ending. The book literally just ended in mid thought. I'm curious to see how her other novels read. I may give her another chance.
